Condo Association Solar Pool
Shoreline, WA

14 FAFCO SunSaver 4' x 12' solar collectors: NW Mechanical was selected to completely update and replace an existing old and outdated solar pool heating system for the Bridgehaven Condo Association in Shoreline. Because a new roof was being put on, a custom roof racking system was designed and installed to lift the collectors slightly off the roof. Collaboration between the roofer and NW Mechanical was an important factor in the successful installation. The new multi-speed pump is, on average, more than 30% more energy efficient than comparable pumps on the market, and can be controlled in conjunction with the SunTouch differential controller and solar heating system. When solar energy to heat is available, the system automatically switches the flow of water to the solar collectors on the roof. At the same time, the pump speed is increased to handle the additional load. When solar turns off in the evening, the pump returns to a slower speed, thereby saving additional energy.
